"Rain" Lamps

Ever hear of a rain lamp? I was wondering where I could get one
repaired or even buy one. The best way I know how to describe it is
that it's got a statue in the middle with the electric light shining
on it. Around the outside of the lamp, there are a bunch of cords.
You add mineral oil at the base, and the oil is not burned, but
brought to the top by way of a pump, and comes down the cords to make
it look like it's raining. Any information will be very helpful. Hope
to hear from you soon!

Geoff: I get questions in the shop about these lamps on occasion.
Never knew what they were called, or what the clear liquid was (I'd
guessed glycerine). There must be somebody still making them, but
I've never seen one new-in-box in a store to get an address. They can
be found in flea markets and second-hand shops all over, probably
inoperable or "dry". This is one piece of kitsch my mother-in-law
DOESN'T have in her basement!
If the pump is worn out, I've no
idea where to find another. If it's just dry, then add your mineral
oil to the reservoir (?). I have never played with one, so I have no
idea what would be needed to fix them. They are probably pretty
chintzy in construction, so the pump could well die long before the
lamp falls apart. Sorry I can't be much help. These are like Lava
Lamps..."nobody" in the business knows (or really cares much) how to
repair them. What a wonderful frustration these lamps will be for our
great-grandchildren!
Perhaps somebody out there DOES know, and
can contact you.
