Rather than reopen the recently archived Inquiry on "torches", I'll
just post a recently found cataloge image from Wells, London,
evidently the parent company of the Australian Wells whose ad (sent
by Robert Isdale) open the door to an answer. This ad, from The
IRONMONGER BUYERS GUIDE, 1927 was sent me by Jeff Johnson in the
Orkney Islands of Scotland (Jeff, our "lone Viking", is not On Line,
so won't see this!). Robert, I can send a copy of the ad via Snail
mail if you wish...way too many pixels to send over the 'Net! Even at
144 px/in, this is a biggish file...sorry about the load time! :: Fil
