John Scott Lamp Question
by Leila Bruce (okgranny@atoka.net)

I have a brass hanging lamp with shade and snuffer and double wick.
On the wick turners is stamped John Scott Made in England. The glass
chimney is tall like the Aladdins. Any information as to age and
value would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Leila: We won't offer "values" here, as this isn't an appraisal
service. Don't know "John Scott"; may be a merchant brand. The burner
with double wicks and snuffers is a "Duplex" (likely THE most popular
UK burner style), and is likely James Hinks and Son, but could be
Messenger or several other UK manufacturers. Inspite of the tall
chimney, your lamp isn't a mantle lamp like the Aladdin.
Perhaps
John Claypole will know who Scott is.

Thanks for the quick response. At least I have several leads to
follow now. Perhaps I will get lucky and find the origin date. Many
thanks again,
