Aladdin made in Chicago Ill.

Can anyone tell me about this lamp and it's value. It has the long
slender fluted glass "globe?", a short cream colored base. It has the
colman lantern type burner and it was made in Chicago, ILL. Don't
know the proper terms to describe it any better. No rust, in
excellent condition.
Thanks.

Vicky: I was OK with a thought until I saw you had said "Aladdin!"
Aladdin/Mantle Lamp Co. of America made but one "Coleman lantern-type
burner", the PL-1 lantern, but that doesn't really fit the rest of
the description. There were MANY companies in Chicago that made
pressure and gravity feed lamps and lanterns (Nagel-Chase, M&M, Acorn
Brass, Yale Light for instance), and both Sears and Monkey-Wards
were/are HQ'd there.
"No rust" implies that this IS indeed a
lantern, with a cream-colored painted pressure vessel. I have a
feeling I'm going to have to ask you for a photo! The "long slender
fluted glass" sounds like a fluted chimney (not common), until you
add "globe". I can't think of a fluted lantern globe!
With a
photo, I can at least pin down what type of light you have, and
direct the image to somebody who could identify "who". You can attach
an image to your response, or E-mail me for a Snail mail address for
hard copy. We'll do our darndest to identify your lamp, but will not
do appraisals here! Although many of us are collectors, and even
dealers, here we are Researchers, and must leave financial
speculation to other places or other times. ::Fil::

For those waiting to hear the end of this saga, we find that Vicky
