If the bracket has coil springs for up and down motion and leaf
springs for side to side motion, then what you have is a caboose
lamp. The model 23 was produced in the '70s and '80s. Chances are
that your lamp was never actually used in a caboose, but original
model B caboose lamps were used by over 130 different railroads. If
you want more information, please feel free to check out the web site
www.aladdinknights.org. There you will find a group of individuals
who are avid collectors of the Aladdin lamps and would be more than
happy to get you forever hooked into collecting Aladdin lamps.

Darn, I wish people would use a NAME rather than a code-word whan

endorse his recommendation! True, the Model B23000 (with the aluminum
font and model 23 burner) came as the days of non-electric lighting
in cabooses was ending (the caboose hardly exists at all today!), I
have seen several of these lamps (and own one) that indicate they
were indeed used, at least in a railroad setting by railroad
employees. They are found with RR initials scratched on the font, and
written on the paper shades. Granted, most 23 caboose lamps are found
in pristine condition, perhaps indicating purchase, but never any
actual use. But don't rule it out...if it's marked with some sort of
RR identification, it could well have seen actual caboose use (or it
might just be a nostalgia trip for a former brakeman or freight
conductor!) "New" (at least comparitively) is quite possible;
reproduction, I think NOT! :: Fil ::
