Miller Lamps Made in USA by John Stephens

I am seeking information on Miller Lamps. The lamp I have is has a
circular wick which can be raised and lowered by a knurled knob on
the top of the fuel bowl. Did this type of lamp have a mantle of
any kind? It has a hollow tube up the middle of the fuel bowl. What
is type of lamp fuel does this lamp use? Is it fueled by Kerosene?
There is a threaded hole in the base and appears that it could have
been used either as table lamp or perhaps on some type of lamp
stand. I would appreciate it if some one could give me some
information on Miller Lamps. The lamp has been passed on to me from
my grand parent's (now deceased) and I am keen to restore it
and even obtain replacement wicks and glass chimney. Thanking you
in anticipation, John Stephens, Albany Western Australia

John: The Miller lamp you describe likely didn't have a
mantle. Most were pretty standard central draft (round wick)lamps
burning kerosene. The threaded hole on the base plate suggests it
was for either a wall bracket lamp or a hanging lamp. The
in-thread was for threaded protrusion from the bracket or frame,
and could provide the only support for the font. The foot plate
is designed to catch drips of fuel from the inner draft tube, and
most of them for home lighting (from all manufacturers) came
threaded whether the font used the threading or not.
