"Buttons and Bows" lamp by Roy White

John, My good friend "Pam" is interested in purchasing an
old brass kerosene lamp in "buttons and bows" pattern
that she has seen, but doesn't want to pay far too much. Do ou
know anything about this lamp (age, value, etc.) or can you direct
me to someone who might be familiar with this particular lamp?
Maybe your "THE LAMP COLLECTORS GUIDE First Edition"
listed on aladdin knights website cover this lamp? Any help would
be appreciated. Roy White Indianapolis, IN

Antique BRASS "buttons and bows" ? I've heard tell
of a "buttons and bows" lamp in pattern glass, but not
a brass lamp. Could she be talking about "Daisy and
Button", a pressed pattern glass design very popular in the
90's that WAS copied in brass hanging lamps (fonts, support
and shade rings to match either the font or the shade). If you
have access to the Truro books, "Daisy and Button"
table lamps are pictured on T1 p. 222-23, items f, l, i, m & n; p
297 item j. This will give you an idea of what the D&B pattern
looks like, Truro DOES list a "Buttons and Bows" glass
lamp on T1 p 266, but I can't find any reference to the
pattern elsewhere. "Daisy and Button" pattern glass is
another of our collections ( a book thereon due
"someday"), and I HAVE heard people use the tern
"buttons and bows" when refering to D&B (albeit
incorrectly). We own a D&B patterned brass hanging lamp (P&A
Royal burner); they are NOT common, nor are D&B patterned shades
and fonts. D&B patterns in table lamps, particularly in fonts
attached to various figural bases, are relatively common. Maybe a
picture of the lamp your friend has would help in identifying it.
