Joe:
What "parts" are you after? Anything metal would have to come from a
scrap box (I have a couple of complete burners). All that is
generally
available is new wicks (not great, as they are converted lantern
wicks,
I think, and a bit thick), and chimneys. Rayo lamps are still
commonly
in use among the Amish and Old Order Mennonites in my area. I have
both
wicks and chimneys available, but so should almost any lampShop that
does repairs.
INFORMATION on Rayos is difficult to find. Originally "sold" by
Standard Oil of New Jersey (and Std Oil of New York...theirs the
Socony-Rayo); made from the start by Bradley and Hubbard under
contract.
The lamps were at one time given away with the purchase of X number
of
gallons of Std Oil kerosene (a good deal for the oil Co., as the Rayo
DRINKS fuel!); after about 10 years, Std Oil dropped the contract,
and
B&H began to sell the lamp to retailers like Montgomery Ward.
There is
only one short B&H Rayo catalogue I know of; that shows the table
lamp, with a couple of distinct glass shades different than the plain
"student" shade usually found, and wall bracket and even chandeliers.
There are a few Standard Oil ads also, but the detail of the lamp
image
is poor.
Hope this is of some help! :: Fil Graff ::
