LIGHT INTERNATIONAL is the brainchild of John Claypole in England. He wanted our Guild to have a Journal, so he created one. Over a six year period, John produced 24 issues, printed on his home computer and lovingly assembled by his wife Vonnie on the dining room table, and mailed to subscribers the world over. The circulation was never great (production time and costs really prohibited more), but the various lampers who contributed articles broke some exciting new ground, generally in full color. The work deserved a much greater circulation than was practical, and ultimately the costs simply out ran the available revenues, and in the fall of 2003, John printed the last hardcopy issue. Several us immediately began to scheme as to how we could continue the magazine without the all labor of John and Vonnie, but WITH our friend John still functioning as editor. After a couple of false starts, we decided to try doing it on-line, as a part of the Guild site. After two Electronic issues, health issues have caused John to temporarily retire as Editor, and consequently, the format of the "magazine" has had to change to a more open posting we call LIGHT INTERNATIONAL DIGEST; this is still an electronic continuation of our "official organ," Light International
These individual articles will stay posted for approximately a calendar year, and are presented in Adobe PDF format, and so can either be viewed on screen, downloaded to a file, or printed directly from the Internet. You WILL need the Acrobat Reader to access the magazine. (If you don't have Adobe Acrobat Reader, or wish to download the most current version (if you use Win 2000 or XP), there is a link below to the Adobe web site.)
Editorial Note:Any lamper is invited to send material for inclusion in LIGHT INTERNATIONAL DIGEST! Submissions are subject (of course) to the Editorial Committee's assessment as to the suitability for publication of such material. If you are hesitant about your writing skills, our staff CAN help turn a good idea and information into an article. Please give it a try...every collector has a story to tell about the objects of their affection!
Photos and other illustrations are welcome as well!
LIGHT INTERNATIONAL DIGEST now has four articles and one image page posted. Please note that the issue index below WILL change as new material is added!
